Brownfield Former Municipal Workshops

Short Overview

On 22 February 2011, the company Progetti e Costruzioni S.p.a. acquired the former Municipal Workshops of Corso Gastaldi from SPIM, a property company of the Municipality of Genoa.

The territorial context where the area is located is of absolute strategic importance. The area of 21,000 square meters develops on the main axis east-city centre, is adjacent to the railway park of Terralba in the stretch between the bridge of Terralba and the house of the Student (its linear development in the lower floors is approximately 300 meters) and is close to Brignole railway station.

It’s divided into four floors and is accessible from Via Dassori and Corso Gastaldi. Easily accessible from the motorway, it is only 4 km from the Genova Nervi exit and 5 km from Genova Est.

The renovation work, still in progress, began in the summer of 2011. The two lower floors have been completed and will be used for parking, warehouses and commercial activities, whilst work on the two upper floors is in progress and will be used partly for commercial area and partly for warehouses.

The project is aimed for the architectural and functional recovery of the building and its appurtenant areas, within the destinations provided by the urban planning instruments.

It is planned to divide the building into several units and change its intended use, with the possibility of finding the relevant car parks within the structure where required by current legislation.
